For me, I was usually okay until about 6. Then the quiet hit. So still. So empty. It started to be all I could think about all day.

At 6pm the house didn't just get quiet. It got loud with it.

You open the fridge. Close it. Open the pantry. Close it. Open the freezer. Close it. You're not even hungry.

The TV's on but you're not watching it. You just needed the noise.

It's only 6pm. Too early to call. You tell yourself to wait.

You walked the halls. Turned the bedroom light on. Turned it off. Stood in the doorway.
